Psychosocial Hazards Awareness Training for Employees
Psychosocial hazards can affect psychological health and safety at work. They may arise from how work is designed, organised or managed, as well as from workplace interactions and behaviours. This psychosocial hazards awareness training gives employees a practical introduction to these risks and explains what they can do when concerns arise.
Importantly, psychosocial hazards are workplace health and safety risks. Examples can include high job demands, poor support, low role clarity, bullying, harassment, violence, aggression and other harmful workplace behaviours. However, the risks will vary depending on the workplace, the work being performed and the circumstances.
Understanding Psychosocial Hazards at Work
This short course builds baseline awareness without overwhelming learners. Employees learn how everyday work practices and behaviours can contribute to psychosocial risks. In addition, the course explains why early recognition and reporting can help workplaces respond before problems become more serious.
The focus is on practical recognition and action. Employees learn about their role in following safe systems of work, treating others respectfully and raising concerns through appropriate workplace channels. They also learn that managing psychosocial hazards requires employers and workers to play different but important roles.
Practical Psychosocial Hazard Awareness
This course does not expect employees to diagnose psychological conditions or personally resolve complex workplace issues. Instead, it helps workers recognise potential hazards, understand workplace procedures and know when to speak up or seek support.
As a result, psychosocial hazards awareness training can form a useful part of employee induction, refresher training and broader workplace health and safety education.
This course takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.
