Hazardous Manual Handling

Course Information

Practical Risk Control for Australian Workplaces

Manual handling injuries are one of the most common — and most preventable — causes of workplace harm. They don’t usually come from one heavy lift, but from poor design, repetitive tasks, awkward postures, and unsafe systems of work.

Hazardous Manual Handling gives workers, supervisors, and employers a clear understanding of how manual handling risks arise and how they must be managed under Australian WHS laws. This course focuses on real tasks carried out every day in warehouses, retail, manufacturing, and office environments.

Learners are shown how to identify hazardous manual tasks, assess the level of risk, and apply practical control measures using the hierarchy of controls.

The course reinforces that manual handling safety is about good planning and task design — not just telling people to “lift properly”.

This training supports safer work practices and helps meet legal obligations to eliminate or reduce manual handling risks so far as reasonably practicable.

This course takes approximately 20 mins to complete.
